Call for Musical Works – Long-Term Creation Project 2025-2027

 

We are inviting Taiwanese composers to participate in a long-term creative process for a new work sheng and electronics to be presented in the C-Lab Festival 2027. The process begins with a series of discussions any the week of 25 October 2025 in Taipei C-Lab, allowing composers to meet WU Wei and Alexis Baskind with the system Forest of Bamboos and explore its possibilities.

 

Composers are asked to submit a concept sketch before 17 October 2025 that illustrates their ideas for the future work. This does not need to be a complete composition—it can be expressed through a few notes, a drawing, a schematic, or any other form that communicates your concept.

 

Thank you for taking the time to watch these research archive (seminar & concert videos, publication) mentioned beyond and consider this opportunity to collaborate in an innovative musical research project. 

The first selection will be held between 18-19 October.

 

The second selection will be announced at hte beginning of November. 

The selected Taiwanese composers will collaborate closely with Wu Wei and Alexis Baskind, and during the C-Lab 2027 Festival, they will have the opportunity to meet composer Philippe Leroux, to jointly realize and world-premiere the new work.

 

After reviewing the archives concerning the Forest of Bamboo system, should you wish to submit an application, we kindly request that you provide a ZIP file intitled with your name and containing: 1) your biography, 2) a listening list of your works, and 3) your proposal based on the concept tables for the Forest of Bamboo research and creation project (please express yourself in any manner).
