CONCERTS – Sheng!

Depuis 2019, le projet revisite les répertoires classique et contemporain de l’orgue à bouche sous forme de concert et de séminaire sur l’analyse musicale. Vous trouverez ci-dessous plusieurs vidéos de nos concerts et des enregistrements.
Le projet pivot actuel « Forêt de Bambous » prépare également son premier concert de création à l’Opéra de Reims. Avec ses caractéristiques sur la flexibilité des répertoires (classique, contemporain, improvisation, électronique etc.) et des espaces (théâtre, salle de concert etc.), ces représentations sont prévues en Allemagne et en France à partir de 2022.

Description
Hosted and supported by the GMEM since 2021, the long-term empirical research and creative project “sheng! l’orgue à bouche (2019–2026)” is based on a specific amplification system developed by Wu Wei and Alexis Baskind for the thirty-seven-pipe sheng (mouth organ).

This creative concert brings together sound, space, and visual art, featuring a light installation by Caty Olive, real-time drawing and sound transformation by Julie Zhu, immersive sheng soundscapes by Wu Wei and Alexis Baskind, and a breath-centered musical exploration by André Serre-Milan.

Description
As part of the research and creation programme “sheng! l’orgue à bouche (2019–2026)”, this concert explores how sound, movement, and space interact.

Music becomes visual through the musicality of the performers’ bodies. Between improvisation and tradition, sound and gesture enter into dialogue, inviting the audience into the interstice between notes, movement, and imagination.

About the Artists

LI Li-Chin

LI Li-Chin is a Taiwanese sheng musician whose work explores musical creativity beyond auditory perception, focusing on the relationship between body, sound, and space.

She collaborates internationally with contemporary composers and ensembles and has participated in residencies at Royaumont, Ircam, Cité des Arts – Paris, and the Centre National de la Danse in Pantin.

Elsa Marquet-Lienhart

Elsa Marquet-Lienhart is a flutist, movement artist, and pedagogue. Graduate of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, she combines music, theatre, and dance in interdisciplinary performances and is artistic director of the company Accord Mobile.
